Clarisa - adopted!

Clarisa is a sweet calico-torby.  She is almost 8 months - that is the best estimate and a petite girl at under 4#.  She has been spayed and is sweet and friendly.  She was found at a trash dump and has had a toe repaired because it was partially declawed.   She'll be at Petsmart for the Adoptathon on May 3.  She probably won't be available for adoption as we want to make sure her foot is totally healed.  She was spayed while she was anesthetized for her foot surgery.   She is so very sweet but a little shy
I love this picture of her.

This is one happy cat
May 3-4, 2014
Clarisa went to Petsmart for Adoptathon.  Several interested people - renters however no definitive.

She spent the night at Petsmart and I got a call while I was in church of someone interested.  I liked her message and her interest, she sounded although she sounded young she was very interested.  I texted her several times.  Found out she's an owner has 2 others, loves calicos and owns.  I told her to head up to Petsmart, no guarantees cause I had no idea if there would be a waiting line.  Someone had called Cindy the night before saying she was interested in either Starsky or Clarisa but being young she said she was calling for her Mom.  She and Mom  were supposed to get to Petsmart in the morning but they didn't show up and Kim went up there and got to adopt Clarisa to a home with 2 other cats.   I'll miss this cute little calico.

April 29, 2014
Clarisa had her foot rechecked at Eagle Harbor.  They said it looks really good and she can use regular litter starting Saturday so if her poops are normally she can go to the Adoptathon on Saturday.

April 27, 2014
Clarisa did great with the kids.  she was a little hesitant at first but did enjoy being petted by little hands.
Absolute bliss...

April 26, 2014 - Clarisa got first dosage of panacure.  She's recovering well and is in good spirits.

April 24, 2014 -
Clarisa went to Animal Clinic of Eagle Harbor to get tested for FIV/FeLV - she is negative!!  aged at over 5-6 months based on her teeth - probably 8 months.  Her injured toe looks like it was the result of self declawing.  It was tender to the touch.  She has to be anesthetized to get it repaired - or rather declaw of that toe completed.  Brings back memories of Ginger.  While she is under she will be spayed and she will also be vaccinated for rabies.  I wonder if she is pregnant.  She had a big tick pulled off her last night under her chin.  She's very dirty and will need a bath in a couple of weeks.

Clarisa - right after she was trapped.
April 23, 2014
Found at a trash dump and trapped.  Debbie delivered her to me to foster and we estimated her at 12 weeks.  Debbie wanted to name her Carol-kitty - no way.  Then I thought Debbie-do but decided to modify Debbie's last name origin and name her Clarisa.  I delivered her to Cindy so she could take her to Eagle Harbor on 4/24

Bella(aka Robin) and the other kitties from Hampton

Four kittens were surrendered from a lady in Hampton.  We had no kittens of adoptable age so even though we are the Isle of Wight County Humane Society, we accepted them into foster care.  They were born inside and have lived the whole time inside.  They are now all adopted and in their new homes.

Ralph - grey kitten . no white - adopted 3/30
Robin (renamed Bella) -B/W tuxedo - adopted 4/1
Rose - brown Tiger (Tabby) kitten -adopted 4/3
Rachel - grey with white paws and chest - adopted 3/30

April 17, 2014
Robin aka Bella is loving big sis Josie.  Isn't she so cute!!!  She sure loves her older sister.  I've never had cats that have cuddled like this.  Ginger and Pepper never did.  They sure look very very happy and content.  Bella you have a great home!!!

April 3, 2014
Rose was adopted by very quiet AF guy who might need to speak up to tell her no and to discipline her. We'll check on him in a couple days.  Cindy Emanuel agreed that the adopter is real quiet but she was full of purrs and loving at Petsmart. Opposites attract so they say. lol

MC - adopted

M.C.  which is stands for Maine Coon since he needs a name and I think he is a Maine Coon got trapped while I was trying to trap a feral.  He thrashed about in the trap and I thought great - another feral.  I left him there over night and transferred him to a cage the next day.  He seemed pretty relaxed after the transfer and I decided to see how friendly he was.  Putting my hand in the cage he came up and wanted me to pet him.  Well he sure wasn't feral.  I called NN Animal Services, and Hampton Animal Control to report him found.  I had him scanned and weighed at my vets office (no microchip).  I posted a found ad to Craigslist, an ad in the Daily Press, posts to facebook to the Peninsula SPCA website and contacted the SPCA.  They don't take found information but expect people to contact the pertinent animal controls.  Something about "liability".  They expect people to go to the SPCA repeatedly to check if the cat is there.  Over the following week I got 3 calls - craiglist, DP and from a post at the vet office.  None fit the description.  I had been trying to decide if I was going to put him in IOW Humane Society foster care or turn him over to the SPCA.  With full consent of NN they were fine with me keeping him here for the required time.  The SPCA is required to hold for 5 days if no id, 10 days if microchip and then M.C. would become the property of the SPCA and they could do whatever they want.  I know they are going to be no kill after June 28 but would only be accepting owner surrenders and not strays at that point.  He was neutered on April 4 and had his rabies vaccine.  He'll get dewormed and FVCRP and be available starting April 12.  Come see him at Petsmart.

April 15, 2014
Adopted today!! yippee!  Adopter works 2nd shift at the Shipyard.  M.C has a great home.  I wonder what name he'll give him

April 13, 2014
I visited him at Petsmart.  Loud noises still startle him but he was happy to get attention.  I hope his forever home comes quickly so he has a minimum amount of time at Petsmart.  He is just so sweet.  Why would anyone abandon him?  I don't know.

April 10, 2014 put him back in the garage so I can get some good sleep and recover from this nasty crud. Revolution today, tomorrow FVCRP,  deworm 4/8-4/10.  poops are tootsie rolls.  everything good for putting him up on Saturday

April 9, 2014  While on the phone I just heard some hissing and face to face encounter in the kitchen.  A yell from me interrupted it and they have separated.  I don't know who instigated it.  M.C. is now talking.  I think he was trying to go into an area which Pepper claimed.  I'm not sure what happened.   Pepper claimed the chair next to me.  M.C. came for attention and Pepper growled at him.   I think they'll work out their differences but M.C. will be up at Petsmart before they'll be buddy buddy.  Pepper isn't used to other cats trying to be friends with him IN HIS house.

April 8, 2014  He did the dosado with my own cat Pepper.  sorry folks no pics.  I think he is trying to be friends.  He tried to follow Pepper around and then blocked the hall.  Pepper just sat there for a while.  No aggression on either side as they basically just stared at each other.  M.C. is getting more confident and secure as time goes by.  He hasn't been hiding.  He does like to let me know where he is in the house but expects me to come find him and not the other way around.  Sometimes I just don't know what he is meeowing at.

April 8, 2014  He's getting more affectionate by the day.  He loves being pet.  Not sure about being picked up but with an invitation will jump up on a lap.  He doesn't really play.

April 5 - received a call in response to Daily Press ad.  Long shot - cat lost from Gloucester area almost a year ago.  13 yrs old.  How they wish they had microchipped him.

April 1 - received a response to Craigs list.  A different cat but a tabby.  Different color eyes and definitely short haired.  I'll look again for a scar but that one was definitely different.  Ad will come out in Daily Press tomorrow.  Cindy came over and looked him over and interacted with him and decided if not claimed he will go into foster care and be put up for adoption and not go to the SPCA.  We have space at Petsmart and not that many cats right now.

March 31 - he stayed out of the cage all day.  he came out for attention without me going ALL the way to touch him.

March 29 late
I decided I had to put MC in a cage.  A soon as I pet him he comes out but I'm tired of going under furniture. He startles easily.  He's not food motivated.  When he gets less startled I'll let him out again or leave him out for shorter periods of time.

March 29, 2014
Where is he?  I'm in garage.  His 2 places that he had been in are vacant.  He doesn't get breakfast until he shows up.  He's probably watching me from a distance.

On Wednesday 3/26, I was trying to catch an orange feral and wound up catching this beautiful cat which might be a "Maine Coon".  I had never seen him before.  He thrashed around in the trap and since it was late decided I'd deal with him in the morning.    He had calmed down by the morning and I transfered him into a cage.   He didn't act too too scared or feral.  He let out one small meeow and had calmed down.  He sniffed my hand and then came for some petting so I knew he was a stray not a "feral".

He had to have a name so his name is MC for Maine Coon - probably not a original name but it will do for a while.  I've known of a DC, CC, GCC,and TC cats in the past now a new one for me.

I have reported him to NN Animal Services, Hampton Animal Control and the Peninsula SPCA and even posted a sign at my vet's office.  He's sweet a little shy.  He weighs about 8# and is in good health.  He isn't microchipped, isn't neutered.  I have to hold on to him for a week or turn him over the SPCA for them to hold and then put up for adoption.

I've decided to hold on to him right now and I wonder if I get the call.  My guess is they put him out or he was abandoned.  If the people really miss him they'll try to find him.  The fact that he is outside, not neutered violates ordinances in both localities so someone may be afraid to look for him?  Perhaps they put him out because of spraying.  His pee definitely is strong.  How anyone can have a male cat and not neuter him is beyond me.

I took him to Todd's Lane Vet hospital where he was scanned for microchip (none) and weighed (8#).  They said he was very sweet even with them.  He has an appointment on Friday 4/4 for neuter, etc if no one claims him and if someone does then I hope they'll keep the appointment.  They would have to prove somehow he is theirs.  I doubt they registered him with the city either.  I'll take some better pictures but he loves being petted and scratched.  He doesn't like being confined, either on a lap or in a cage but if he knows he can get down he doesn't mind it.  After the vet visit I let him loose in the garage and he hid.  I did find him, bribed him out with food and some petting and spent some time loving on him.   I decided to leave him loose all night.  He kinda looked up at me with sad eyes as if to say - where are you going?   I think he'll get adopted quickly so look for him at Petsmart, comment or contact me if you are interested.  He'll hopefully be at Petsmart NN by 4/11/2014.

Black Beauty - adopted March 2014

Does she look like a Beauty or what?
This sweet gal was an owner surrender.  Her original name was "Black" or "Blackie".  Cindy and I decided she needed a nicer name so I named her Black Beauty, a very good name for this gorgeous A long haired beauty.  She was adopted by the same family that adopted Snow White.   They decided to get her groomed since there was more dander than they wanted and the furrminator didn't work as well as they wanted.

Quite a bit of brown undertone in the black fur
They decided on a lion cut.    This I needed to see so Amanda sent me some pictures.  She seems to like it says the new owner.  I guess we can now call her "Black Lion"?  She does look cute.  She did so well at the groomers they didn't even charge the surcharge for cats.  How nice is that?   I'm sure in the summer it is going to be much cooler.  Since I hadn't gotten any before pics because I took her straight up to Petsmart, her new owner sent me a couple of them as well.  So what do you think.  Do you like her original look or her lion look?

Amanda enjoying her sweet lion.

Can you hug and squeeze me

just a little more?
