Opie - adopted

BunnESoft, Opie and Pumkin were surrendered by the daughter of their owner upon her untimely death.   Both BunnEsoft and Opie are front declawed.

BunnEsoft is about 4 yrs old and Opie is about 3 yrs old.  The owner had desired for both to find a home together but that is something we find very hard to do but we'll advertise the other if someone is interested in one or the other.  Pumkin needs work before he's adoptable.  More details follow

Opie
Opie is still grieving and is a little more shy.  He is a long haired orange tabby cat.  He's a little more timid than his brother BunnEsoft that has been adopted.  He's a BIG orange tabby cat about 13#.  He's a little shy but needs a lot of love and hands on attention to bring him out of his grief.  He's about 3 years old.

12/13 - he's at Petsmart and I hope he gets adopted quickly.

Pumkin is a feral who came in and didn't want to go back out.  He was good with the litter box and she let him stay in.  He's a scared cat.  I've made some progress and on 12/14 was finally able to pet him.  12/15 he's having his surgery and the challenge of getting him transfered from the cage to the transfer cage may have set me back with his socializing. He was very scared.  Poor thing.  I tried Brenda's technique to transfer him from the cage to the transfer cage.  Didn't work - he was just petrified and didn't want to move.  The transfer cage would not fit in the cage.  Finally threw a towel over him and scruffed him.  I'm hopefully with a couple more weeks of hands on he'll become adoptable.  If not I hope to find a barn for him.

BunnEsoft is very very friendly and sweet buff long haired tabby waiting for a forever home and is at Petsmart (12/8).  He loves attention and to be petted and brushed.  He's an in-your-face lover. BunnEsoft is about 4 years old, a neutered male, tested negative FIV/FeLV and current on all his shots.  BunnEsoft was on 12/13/2014.  I hope Opie finds a home quickly.  He went to a home with a couple of small dogs and a cat.  I hope Opie finds his forever soon quickly

Pumkin is a feral who came in the house one day and never wanted to go back out.  He's good about using the litter box inside and when invited to go back out he didn't want to.  We'll try to work with him and get him available for adoption.  If not he'll eventually have to go out when it is warmer.  It might be a barn instead of a colony.

Pumkin will be neutered as a feral package on PETA van on 12/15.  The owner had wanted to socialize him to the point of being able to take him to the van.  I'll let PETA estimate his age which I'm guessing is about 7 months.

Checkers - adopted

Checkers is a sweet chubby little kitten who loves to play.  Loud noises startle her and she may run but comes right back for attention.  She's a little more independent than her friend Ginger She was born about Sept 30, 2014.  She gets along great with other cats but has no dog experience.  She didn't react too badly too seeing them at Care-a-lot.   12/14 - adopted along with Ginger to the same home.  They will have fun together.  I miss them already.  They were so much fun.  I'm sure it won't be long before I have 2 more.  I'm sure it will probably be after the holidays.

Ginger - adopted

Ginger is a sweet loveable girl who loves to play and wants to be with you.  She will cry and ask to be picked up and held.  She was born approximately Sept 16, 2014.  She gets along great with cats.  No experience with dogs at this point aside from seeing them at Care-a-lot.  She didn't react too badly to them.

12/14 - Ginger and Checkers were both adopted to the same home.  I'll miss this cutie.

Tucker, travis and tilly all adopted

Tilly, Tucker and Travis are litter mates born approximately July 20, 2014.  Tilly and Tucker are being fostered at Doreens.  I had the fun of fostering Travis.  Nov 9, 2014 - Travis was adopted!!!  Tilly was also adopted at Petco NN!!

Tucker

Tucker

Tucker is a lover. Purrs real loud and loves to rub up on you and jump in your lap. Likes dogs and plays good with his sister Tilly.  Nov 17- Tucker was adopted.  He should be at Care-a-lot  Nov 22 for adoption and if not adopted then will be at Petsmart in a cage in the near future.

Tilly

Tilly is a little shy but she is very sweet. Loves to play with toys and her brother. Gets along OK with dogs. She has a loud purr too.

Tilly, Tucker and Travis are three born approximately July 20, 2014.  We set the date initially as July 30, 2014 but I'm pretty sure that they are older.

Travis

Cindy felt Travis needed more attention.   He didn't take much work.  He is having a blast playing.  He's quite an energizer bunny.  He wants to be with you all the time.  He doesn't like being ignored.  He goes full speed and then collapses.  He plays with toys and anything that moves and will entertain himself too.  He's learning appropriate things to scratch - ie - scratching pad and not the sofa or my legs.  He's getting better.  He also is pretty good at retrieving.  He'll run after it bat it around and then many times come back with it.  He's not as consistent as Snickers.... yet.  He is a loud purrer.

Asher is a sweet little love-bug who loves making bread and licking my chin and other parts of my face.  Very friendly.  He has a little bent tail that he was born with.  He loves affection.  He's a little shy but warms up quickly and wants to be with you and on you loving you.

Nov 15.  I got Asher at Care-a-lot.  Formerly Cindy's foster he needs more one on one and that's what I'm good at.  He also got along well with Lily my other foster I've had since Nov. 10.

Lily - adopted!

First pic 11/10. Sun spot from top loader carrier.  A little dirty
and smells like sardines as that was the bait in order to catch
her.  Yuck stinky.
Lily is a sweet dilute calico.  She was trapped outside.  Her Mom is probably Violet a feral that was TNR'd and put back on Nov 10. Violet is about 2 yrs old and also a dilute calico but she has more grey on her than Lily who is mostly white with a couple of grey spots and the markings on the top of her head.  She tested negative for FIV/FeLV.  My goal is to have her ready for Care-a-lot on Nov 15.

Nov 12 - She's doing really well.  She had first dose of panacure dewormer- yuck.  Confined in the bathroom, she couldn't go anywhere.

Nov 11 - She isn't hiding.  She likes and needs to be held and to play.  She got her ears cleaned.  She weighed in at 1# 15 oz.  Perfect weight for her age.  She went bezerk last night.  I was holding her while petting Pepper with the other as they stared at each other.  All of a sudden her heart started beating very rapidly and she scratched, wiggled out of my hands hissing and wound up on the floor.  I scruffed her before she could hide and held her for a while till she calmed down.  Too much too soon?

Look at that belly
Nov 10 - Lily is my newest foster. A kitten 8 weeks old trapped just yesterday.  Tested negative for FIV/FeLV.  Got her first FVCRP today.  I don't think she'll be ready for Care-a-lot this weekend although I might be surprised.  She has met Pepper - through the cage - hair all puffed up.  Had a nice meal of canned off a spoon while being petted.   She started to swat and growl at me to guard her food which is unacceptable so I took it away from her and then gave it back to her and she was better.  She is now playing with a little mouse in her cage.  Looking at me periodically.  She had a very busy last couple of days.

She's making bread on her new hammock

Travis - Adopted!

Travis - we are just getting acquainted 10/12

Who is that kitty in the mirror?

Travis with new big sister 11/12 (adopted on 11/9)

Nov 9, 2014 Adopted!!!  yippee!!!  I'll miss the cute little munchkin and bed warmer.  On Saturday IOW Humane Society participated in an event at Horse and Hound in Smithfield - a yearly activity (Yard and Tack Sale)  which lasted from 10-1 After going to the NN Feral Cat Coalition monthly meeting I went home and decided at the last minute to take Travis with me.  We got there at almost noon and someone came by and fell in love with him when I took him out of his carrier for Linda to take some pictures.  We did the adoption a day later!

Nov 4, 2014  I'm starting to get a little attached to this munchkin.  He's so sweet and playful and needs a forever home.  He gets along great with cats.  The limited encounters he's had with dogs hasn't been good but he's still young and with a proper introduction.  He'll get to go to stay with Auntie Cindy for a night and go to Horse and Hound Festival on Saturday.  He hasn't like Auntie Cindy I think because of their first introduction which was kind of traumatic.  The owner just kind of threw the kitten at her.  Travis scratched and was released.  Cindy has since been greeted with hisses but did better this past weekend.  He took a little time to get his confidence but once he does he'll be following you around - sleeping with you and playing with your feet in the morning if you let him.  He's a very sweet boy and hasn't tired of trying to get 10 year old Pepper to play with him.

Born July 20, 2014 - approximately.  In a litter of 3.  The others are Tilly and Tucker.  I am having so much fun with this boy who loves to play.  He really wants to play with Pepper but at 10 years old Pepper isn't quite so excited about it as you can tell in some of the body language in the pictures.

Is pepper going to swat me or leave me alone?
Putting the toy in between
himself and Pepper

How I love to play
Hard to do anything with this little boy fast asleep on my lap

Oct 21, 2014 - almost 4#.  He's going to be a big boy.  He's super sweet and friendly.  Loves cats.  Nothing seems to scare him at all.

First experience with the fountain
