Travis - Adopted!

Travis - we are just getting acquainted 10/12

Who is that kitty in the mirror?

Travis with new big sister 11/12 (adopted on 11/9)

Nov 9, 2014 Adopted!!!  yippee!!!  I'll miss the cute little munchkin and bed warmer.  On Saturday IOW Humane Society participated in an event at Horse and Hound in Smithfield - a yearly activity (Yard and Tack Sale)  which lasted from 10-1 After going to the NN Feral Cat Coalition monthly meeting I went home and decided at the last minute to take Travis with me.  We got there at almost noon and someone came by and fell in love with him when I took him out of his carrier for Linda to take some pictures.  We did the adoption a day later!

Nov 4, 2014  I'm starting to get a little attached to this munchkin.  He's so sweet and playful and needs a forever home.  He gets along great with cats.  The limited encounters he's had with dogs hasn't been good but he's still young and with a proper introduction.  He'll get to go to stay with Auntie Cindy for a night and go to Horse and Hound Festival on Saturday.  He hasn't like Auntie Cindy I think because of their first introduction which was kind of traumatic.  The owner just kind of threw the kitten at her.  Travis scratched and was released.  Cindy has since been greeted with hisses but did better this past weekend.  He took a little time to get his confidence but once he does he'll be following you around - sleeping with you and playing with your feet in the morning if you let him.  He's a very sweet boy and hasn't tired of trying to get 10 year old Pepper to play with him.

Born July 20, 2014 - approximately.  In a litter of 3.  The others are Tilly and Tucker.  I am having so much fun with this boy who loves to play.  He really wants to play with Pepper but at 10 years old Pepper isn't quite so excited about it as you can tell in some of the body language in the pictures.

Is pepper going to swat me or leave me alone?

How I love to play
Hard to do anything with this little boy fast asleep on my lap

Oct 21, 2014 - almost 4#.  He's going to be a big boy.  He's super sweet and friendly.  Loves cats.  Nothing seems to scare him at all.

Marilyn - Adopted!

I'm friendly.  I just don't like my pic taken.
I'm also not sure if I'm allowed out which
 she is.
Marilyn was abandoned back in February.  She's been living outside because she doesn't get along well with her caregivers 2 cats but she does fine with dogs.  She is having to share her foster space with another cat and the cat does respect her boundaries and backs off when Marilyn hisses.  She has adjusted very well to being inside.  No problem with using the litter box.  She's great with kids and dogs don't bother her.  Very sweet.  A beautiful long hair.  She loves being brushed, which since she is long-haired does need to be done regularly

Oct 18, 2014 - Cindy took care of Marilyn from September until her recent stay at Petsmart.  She has gotten a call and Marilyn was on Sunday Oct 19, 2014.  Yippee!!!

July 5, 2014 - She is due to come out soon.  I'm hoping that she'll get adopted while Mary is at Petsmart.

June 24 -  Marilyn is doing pretty well at Petsmart.  I hope she gets adopted quickly.

June 17 - what I thought was a tick was only a scab.  She's on her way to Petsmart.  Hope she gets adopted quickly.

June 16 -  The whole garage for her to play in and she choses to  be in her "bed" the litter container.  When I come in though she does come out for attention and to be brushed which she LOVES!  She's ready for Petsmart.  I wonder how she'll do with all the cat smells there.

June 14 - first day out of the cage.  She took the longest time to come out.  Now she isn't hiding.  Just relaxing.  I'm considering putting her up at Petsmart once I know more details about her background.  She doesn't particularly care for Willow.  Hisses at her even tho Willow is in the cage.  I think insecurity.  She might come around and at least tolerate.  Willow doesn't react to the hissing.  She had her time out also earlier.  She's now snoozing.  Willow gets spayed on Monday.
Marilyn likes her little shelter.
She feels secure.

June 12 - Quite the talker.  I gave her attention and petted her and brushed her but I'm not ready to let her completely out of cage.  She doesn't like Willow.  She decided to swat me and I swatted back and she went and hid in the litter container.  A little later and she's apologetic.  I fed both wet.  I may cover her cage so she doesn't have to see Willow.  Willow is adjusting better.

June 11 - Marilyn arrives.  She's been living outside for a long time and being in a cage is definitely not pleasant and she'll need some time to adjust to a different environment.   She's getting adjusted but hisses like Willow who was acting the same 24 hrs ago and is coming around. Not ready to give either one of them garage privileges.

From Cory:  Marilyn is really sweet and loves being pet/held, but I had a feeling she would hate being caged. That's why I thought she would be a good barn cat.

My response:  She'll come around. None like being caged. some get used to it quicker and when I know she'll come back to me she'll come out. I tend to keep them in there until they feel it is secure. It's amazing that once they are let out - if they get stressed they tend to go into the cage as a safe place. She does like the litter bucket container. She feels secure in it. She just doesn't know yet what to think of Willow and the feeling is mutual.

Charlotte - adopted

Charlotte is a dilute calico abandoned at a feral colony.  The caregiver was called and she went to her colony to find Charlotte and son Sebastian sitting there.  Sebastian has been adopted but Mom Charlotte wants a forever home.  She is fine with cats as long as they aren't rambunctious kittens who don't take no for an answer.  She's sweet.   Loves attention and to be with you.  She also likes heights and enjoys climbing into the rafters of my garage where she can look down on everything.  She's very sweet and available to go to her forever home.  For more information call Debbie 757-947-7810 or add a comment to this post.

She had a bout with ear problems.  She will get rechecked 10/10.  Standard earmite protocol didn't work to get rid of the problem so off to the vet she went.  She was a very good patient!

She is spayed, current on vaccines and FIV/FeLV.

Snickers - adopted

Will you please through the toy for me.
Snickers is one of the sweetest and most playful.  She loves carrying a toy in her mouth and has turned out to be a fantastic retriever.    Snickers is about 4 1/2 months and full of energy.  She is the last of the Candy Bar litter with sisters- Peppermint Paddy, Reeses Pieces and ???  She took the longest to come around with people but now wants to be with them all the time.  If you don't watch out you might kick her or step on her.  She has no fear of anything although maybe dogs.  She wants to play with cats and sometimes doesn't take "no" for an answer.  She wants to be with you.  She hasn't been one to just stay cuddled - she wants to get down and play.  She'll sit with you, climb all over you but not necessary stay on a lap or be hugged for too long.  She'll be great in a home with another cat that wants to play with her.  Snickers is very smart and learned to retrieve very quickly as she loves carrying a toy in her mouth.
Snickers hiding from the Bailey.

If interested in adopting her contact Mandy 876-0513 or add a comment below.    She will be at Petsmart NN sometime after 10/10.  She's spayed, current on vaccines and FIV/FeLV negative.

She had a bout of sneezing for a long time although she didn't act sick.  After the standard protocol of L'lysine and echinea didn't work she had a vet visit and got an antibiotic on 10/3 and she should be all ready to go home to a new home on 10/10/14.
Snickers is all grown up now (July 2015
and still retrieves)
