July 5-6 - lots of holding.  she doesn't like kisses and backs off.

Cafe Cubano -adopted

Adilei - adopted

Adilei -they do like boxes...
Adilei wanting to visit Pepper or eat Pepper's food
Adilei is a sweet torti/tabby.  She loves to play and she also loves to follow me around.  She wants to help clean my house by chasing the broom for one thing.  She'll put her paws on my leg and ask to be picked up.

All the details on these 2 girls are in a separate blog:  Two calicos

They've been loads of fun.  She and her sister Amira could go together but they'd be perfectly fine separated.  They'll sleep together but they'll also run off and entertain themselves individually.  They also would do great in a home with another cat as both tried very hard to engage my 11 year old cat Pepper.

Available through Cat Corner

Amira - adopted

Amira has been so much fun.  Loves to play and loves to be held and cuddled.  She loves to just be held but when she wants to play she plays hard.  She is not afraid of anything and repeatedly tries to engage Pepper in play and runs and puts her face in his food bowl and he lets her.   She doesn't take no for an answer.  She'll be loads of fun for whoever adopts her.  She would be great with another animal who will cooperate and respond to her.  She is in constant motion when she is awake and it was vey hard to take a pic of her.

Available through Cat Corner

Coffee cats

Half Caffe, Cafe Cubano and Latte
July 11 - all 3 are back at Cat Corner.  I took them back because of my busy plans this coming week and the next weekend.  Cubano probably will be back on antibiotics.  She had hard snot today and yesterday and acts like she has a hairball.  Is this from post nasal drip or her licking her nose.  They are sharing a cage with macchiato who is also from the same location and is also doing some sneezing.  I hope they don't give it to anyone else.   Macchiato was beating up on the only male in the cage -  Half Caffe.  I guess establishing pecking order in the large cage they are in.  Macchiato is a recent spay who is bigger than my 3.  Maybe a week or 2 ahead of them.  I don't know.

July 7 - I let that kittens out of the cage.  Cubano loves attention.  Latte hid under the bed and HC didn't go far.  late at night and I couldn't retrieve Latte so I left the litter accessible and water and left her.  She didn't interrupt my sleep and the next morning was out and about again.

3 of the Coffee cats  -don't ask the total # of kittens
these are Latte/Cafe Cubano and Half Caffe
July  5- While at Cat Corner - Adilei and Amira will stay and I will take others.  I got 3 kittens of a large collection from one location that Cat Corner is trying to deal with.  The three coffee cats in a huge ferret cage in the garage.  There temporarily because I have Flynn in the house.    They'll be moved to smaller cage in the house so I can concentrate on working with them.

Latte

July 9, 2015 - Half Caffe and Cubano seem to be the ones sneezing now.  Latte was crying like a little baby when I had to leave this morning.  She has really come around in just 24 hrs.  Yesterday hiding under the bed.  Today out watching them play and somewhat engaging them or watching me.  Not backing off when I tried to pet her.  Progress.

Flynn - adopted!

Flynn's new owners (July 2015)
Flynn has been outside since last fall.  It appears he was abandoned for some unknown reason.  He loves attention.  We estimate him at about 3-5 years old.    He is a sweet friendly cat who according to his caretakers desperately wanted to come in however the caretaker's cat would not put up with that AT all.  He finally was accepted into IOWHS foster care program for adoption after attempts to find owner proved futile.

Yesterday (July 2) was the most traumatic day of his life.  He was uprooted from where he was living by people he didn't know.  Taken to Animal Clinic of Eagle harbor where he was given 2 shots (rabies/FVCRP) and had a blood test (negative for FIV/FeLV - yippee)  then taken to a garage where he smells lots of different cats and is left.  30 minutes later I come home to a very angry and upset cat - very understandable.  He is taken into a house he doesn't know and sees a cat he doesn't know where there is mutual hissing through the carrier walls.  He is put in a bathroom - nice size very comfortable to settle down.  His reaction to my entering is anger stress upset.  He wouldn't let me use the toilet and tried to swat at me and I think - great what HAVE I gotten myself into - but the folks who had him said he was a very nice sweet cat.  So we shall see.  2:30 am July 3 he wakes me up vocalizing - and not very happy vocalizing.  I open the bathroom door get greeted with growling and close the door and try to get back to sleep.   I sprayed pheromenons on the chair in the bathroom.

Later in the morning I walk in.  Greeted with silence.  He is hiding underneath the chair.  I start talking to him and he comes out and starts rubbing my legs as if nothing is wrong.  His tail tells me he is still stressed but he is definitely in the process of adjusting.  Sat in the chair and start petting him.  I wrote complimentary email stating how well he was doing, and then I guess i overdid the petting as he nipped me.  After being nipped - he didn't break the skin, the stern no was greeted with growling and sulking as he hid under the chair.  He intermittently had a low growl and some huffing.  I leave and then  come back later and he is much better.  Scratches non-existent claws ie he is front declawed.  He makes his home in the flower box window and starts grooming himself.

He responds when you talk to him by wanting to be petted.  He enjoys having his head scratched.  I debated giving him whole house privileges.  He won't be here too long this time before Petsmart.  He goes up there tomorrow (july 4). He acted interested and I opened the door.  He peered out and then greeted his opportunity by growling and small hiss.  Close the door, growling not rewarded.  May  try again later.  Pepper is outside enjoying the nice weather and the freedom from kittens trying to climb him and being hissed at.

TT

TT is a semiferal cat that was trapped as part of a major TNR operation. We guess she is about 5-6 months but I guess she could be older. She was scheduled to be spayed but as since she has an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) she can't get spayed yet.  Fortunately since she really isn't feral there is hope to give her the meds and who knows maybe she'll come around to be adopted.   I have the privilege of giving her antibiotics for 2 weeks. I've been mixing the powder in canned food and she's been eating it all. She responds to be petting but startles easily. If she comes all the way around then maybe she'll get to be adopted otherwise she has a home outside with the rest of the ferals where she came from. She's a black cat but has a white blaze on her chest and abdomen and a white toe on her foot.

July 3 - she responds to being petted by rolling on side and nestling her whole face in my hand.  She did try to bolt from her cage yesterday which I can't allow because I have to make sure she gets her meds.  When Flynn was delivered she was hiding in her litter box. She was there when I got home.  I also brought home several kittens from the Coffee Litter (Latte, Cafe Cubano and Half Cafe)

Monday June 29 - I was asked to take a semiferal which couldn't be spayed yet. She needs to be healed of the URI prior to being spayed and the trapper had a garage full of cats that definitely didn't need to be exposed to URI which can be very contagious. She also hasn't been tested yet for FIV/FeLV.  She's not really sneezing but has a runny eye and hard snot in her nose to clean out.  Her nose runs a little but not too bad.
